TIBU Swimmers Make a Splash at Coaches’ Longcourse Meet

On July 13th at the annual MCSL Coaches’ Invitational Longcourse Meet, several TIBU swimmers swam like hungry sharks!  Each summer, this meet brings together the top EIGHT swimmers in each event, out of a pool (no pun intended) of hundreds of swimmers across the county. 

CONGRATULATIONS to the following TIBURONES:

• Jacob Lindner (Lakelands)... Seventh place in 8 & U Boys 50m. Backstroke

• Carly Alvarado (Upper County)... Third place in 11-12 Girls 100m Backstroke & Seventh place in 11-12 Girls 100m Freestyle

• Lillie Spivey (Wash. Woods)... Fifth place in 11-12 Girls 100m Backstroke

• Sawyer Hazel (Westleigh)... FIRST place in 11-12 Boys 100m Fly & Sixth place in 11-12 Boys 200m IM

• Peter Bajorek (Westleigh)... Eighth place in 13-14 Boys 200m IM

Smart, Successful, and Speedy in the Water

Congratulations to Theresa Bajorek, who was just named the recipient of the prestigious MCSL Sarah E. Auer Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually to five college-bound athletes who demonstrates dedication, leadership, skill, and service in the sport of swimming.

Theresa is a Senior Competition athlete who has trained with Coach Jorge since the birth of Hydro-Sonic, eight years ago.  In addition to maintaining a disciplined training schedule, Theresa has earned accolades at school by being inducted into the National Honor Society and serving as an editor on her school newspaper.  She has also worked as a TIBU Stroke Clinic coach and swim lesson instructor, as well as serving as the Cloppers Mill assistant coach for two years. 

Theresa will use her scholarship at St. Mary’s University in Indiana in the fall, where she intends to pursue studies in journalism and swim on the varsity team.  CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR LOVELY TIBU THERESA!!
